Target Beauty Box: Head of the Class

When I first found out about the Target Beauty Boxes, I thought they were seasonal like WalMart’s are. Then I saw an additional one for Father’s Day, and then two for back to school, and now there’s one that just seems to be out there randomly. Not that I’m complaining!

When the back to school ones showed up on my radar, I was lucky enough to nab the Head of the Class collection – yay!

Target's Head of the Class beauty box!

There was another one they offered with about half of the items the same. That was sold out by the time I got to the page, but honestly, I am happier to have received this one.

First, the insert card that tells you about what you will find in the box. It also has a coupon for $3.00 off any beauty purchase of $15.00 or more – which makes the cost of this box more like $4.00 instead of the $7.00 I spent on ordering it. (Okay, yes – that’s that hinky math we all do when trying to rationalize a splurge.)

Head of the Class

Must-haves. Can’t-live-withouts. Obsessions. As purveyors of all-things beauty, we at Target Style like to keep a lookout for what makes the grade. We’ve put together a few of our faves – all in one convenient box for you to try for yourself. Test  ’em out and tell us what you think. And if you love them as much as we do, find the full-size version at Target.com/beauty.

First was the Wet n Wild Max Volume Plus Mascara in Amp’d Black. I haven’t tried this yet simply because I have three mascaras open right now that I’m rotating – I don’t need another one just yet! I’ve heard good things about this, though, and am excited to try it once I have a mascara opening. 🙂  This is a full-size product, and looks like it retails for $4.99 at Target. This plus the coupon have already paid for the box!

The green packet is Yes to Cucumbers wipes – a 10-count, and shows as the smallest size on Target.com, retailing for $2.99. I’ve already used most of these and want more – love them! They smell so nice but aren’t overpowering at all, and they feel wonderful wiping across your forehead and cheeks. A great addition to a summertime purse or pool bag.

Woot for Hollywood Fashion Tape! A trial size of six was in the box, and believe me when I say it’s a good product. I’ve used something like this before, and I love it to hold spaghetti straps up, hold cardigans over my boobs (with a shirt on underneath, thank you!), and all sorts of fix-its we need. The full size is a 36-count for $8.89 – totally worth it.

The Bathery’s Luxury 2-in-1 Pumice Stone is a great addition to this box, too. I am lucky – I don’t need pumice stones for my feet… but Hims does! So off it went into his shower. I’d say it’s working pretty well, and on his feet? Oy! That’s a great thing! When he wears this one out, it won’t be hard at all to buy a new one for $1.99.

Goody Ouchless Elastics are wonderful. I’ve got pretty long hair, and I use these things nearly every day. They keep their stretchiness, they hold up well in water, and best of all, Dexter loves to play with them! We’ve even had to buy him some of his own, though he still looks at me sometimes with the quizzical look on his face, as if trying to figure out why I am putting his toys in my hair. And since I can get 37 of them in different colors and patterns for only $4.79, I don’t mind sharing with the cat… much.

Next was Herbal Essences Wild Naturals Illuminating Dry Oil Spray. I am liking this stuff, too. I’ve used it a couple times, and even have it on my hair right now. I like the nice, fruity smell and it does make my hair pretty shiny. We did get the full size in this box (surprise!), and it retails for $5.99 at Target.

Cover Girl Colorlicious Lip Gloss! Another full-size item! I received the shade Give Me Guava, and cheers! It’s a perfect match for my skin tone. It’s not sticky, it goes on well, and it has the lightest candy scent to it. It’s been in my purse since I got it. And for $5.99, it’s probably something I’ll pick up when I run out of it.

The value of this box was about $30.00 or so, not including the coupon – not bad! I’m looking forward to future Target Beauty Boxes, though the one they have right now with mainly skin and hair care isn’t calling to me. I can save my seven bucks for the next one. I’ll be interested in seeing other reviews about it, though!

Syd is a Midwestern girl who doesn’t think the term “girl” is sexist in the least – especially after she left her 20s. She holds a huge love for history (from WWI through the end of WWII, Victorian, Regency, and Elizabethan eras), some science fiction, and likes to pass the time reading, working with photography and needlework, and writing things. Lots of things. Syd likes to dance, too, but she looks like an utter goob doing so!

  1. I’ve always wanted to get the Target Beauty Boxes but the ones that look appealing to me are always sold out! I’m going to have to keep a constant eye out, because the boxes look amazing.

    1. Since I’m always on my computer for one thing or another, I usually have a tab open on the Beauty Boxes page at target, and refresh it once or twice a day. yeah, I know that sounds a bit obsessive, but it seems to work. 🙂 Try checking it every day, like when you’re checking email or something like that. I’d bet another one pops up in a month at the most. 🙂

    1. Thank you! Target’s been pretty good with knowing what will go over well with their customers so far. This last one that finally sold out didn’t seem to be as popular, though. Did you get that one?
