Fortune Cookie Soap! Halloween!

Over the past year or so I’ve bought a few items from Fortune Cookie Soap, and I have loved all of what I’ve received! In case you’ve not heard of the company yet, Fortune Cookie Soap is on a mission to “provide safe unique bath & body products to the world”. They forgot to add how completely fun and adorable their products are, too!

Last week, the Halloween box came in the mail. I waited and waited to open it because I’d planned on doing a YouTube video about it. Unfortunately, I still have tons of U-Haul and FedEx boxes all over the place, with half-filled plastic tubs serving as sorting bins. (Yeah, the results of my California-Clean-Out-The-Storage trip. More on that later!) I got tired of waiting to dive into the box, so I said heck with it. And here’s the post!

How cool is this? And with a Tootsie Roll, even! So what is all of this, you ask?

Now, how did I like it?

As you know, I have a bunch of different moisturizers, with a couple that are my definite go-to’s for my beauty routine. So this one already was up against some stiff competition! It comes in a nice, dark amber glass bottle, which I like. Not only does it look good (yes, a vanity’s vanity!) but it keeps the contents safe. It goes on so smoothly and my skin just drinks it in so quickly and easily – perfect for the mornings, and I love that I don’t feel like I have a layer of stuff on my face while I wait for something to finally sink in. Only a few pumps of the Pure Glow takes care of my whole face, neck, and decolletage! It doesn’t clog my pores, either – in fact, I’ve been having a time of it with breakouts for some reason these past few weeks, and the Pure Glow didn’t add to the problem; in fact, it might have helped it heal.

This is really some great stuff, and it’s even on sale for $25.00 (from the regular price of $45.99) on Amazon. For other amazing items in Valentia’s line, go look at their website, check out their Facebook page, and peruse their wonderful Instagram account.

I’ve reviewed other items of theirs, too!

  3. Royal Rose Hydrating Serum

Glossybox For August! (Oh, And July!)

After hearing so many good things about Glossybox, I finally broke down and got a three month subscription to see if it lives up to its hype. (The deal advertised on Everything And Nothin’ helped in my decision, too! Hey, buy one and get two boxes free? Sure!)

My first Glossybox was July:

Product Review: WHEN Masks

You guys know I love skin care, and I really love face masks of all types! There’s a new brand called When from Korea that’s showing up in places like Sephora, and I was aching to try it out.

I did film a video for YouTube with me trying out the mask, and that will be up in a few days. (I’ve only just begun with videos, so it takes me awhile!) But I can sure tell you what I thought, right?

Product Review: Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask

I was so excited to receive this!

When I began reading about these products and the people who make them, I knew I wanted to try them. All natural and organic ingredients, the company is owned by women and managed by women, those are total pluses.

2016 05 09_Clay Mask with box front and logos

First off, what the brand itself says about this product:

Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask – Natural and Organic Ingredients – With Kaolin Clay, Hisbiscus & Cranberry Fibers
Specially selected ingredients work together to achieve optimum results.

KEY INGREDIENTS
– Kaolin Clay:Clay minerals draw impurities, improve skin tone, and tighten pores for smoother firmer skin.
– Plant Stem Cells:Naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins and works to soother the skin, reduce redness, and improve evenness.
– Spirulina:A botanical stimulant full of vitamins that hydrates the skins surface and contributes to tissue regeneration of the skin.
– CoQ10:Lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulating health collagen production.
– Hibiscus & Cranberry Fibers:Both lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin, helping to reduce the creation of new wrinkles.

Now, how did I like it?

I absolutely love masks, and I’ve been looking for a really good clay mask (that won’t break the bank) for ages. The first thing I noticed about this was the scent… sort of like always! It’s sweet and citrusy, and I think smells a bit like flowers. Not something you would expect from a clay mask, right? But it’s great!

As for the application, the mask is a bit on the watery side in the jar, so you have to be careful with that unless you want it all over your bathroom floor. I like the consistency because it makes it easier to apply gently and doesn’t tug at my skin the way more solid clay masks tend to do. Plus it takes a bit longer to dry, but then seems to dry pretty evenly. No cracking on the outer edges while the cheeks are still wet!

While it’s on my face, it feels cool and a little bit tingly, but not in a painful or irritating way. It might bother people with sensitive skin, but I have no problems. When I remove it, I wet my washcloth with warm water and begin massaging the clay in light circles. They tell you to do that because of the gentle exfoliating properties of the hibiscus and cranberry flower fibers. It washes off pretty easily, and my skin feels just amazing afterward! Very soft and smooth, without being over-tight or dry.

My silly face!

Product Review: Valentia Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum

I was so excited to receive this!

When I began reading about these products and the people who make them, I knew I wanted to try them. All natural and organic ingredients, the company is owned by women and managed by women, those are total pluses.

2016 04 15 Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum 1

First off, what the brand itself says about this product:

Valentia Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum – A potent and luxurious lactic acid serum that supports natural circulation for an all over youthful and refreshed complexion.

This Revitalizing Serum Will:
– Renew texture & tone
– Deeply moisturize
– Minimize fine lines
– Increase elasticity
– Brighten & Plumbs Fine Lines
– Evens Hyperpigmentation

All Valentia products are made with Natural & Organic Ingredients. They are specially selected to work together to achieve optimum results.

KEY INGREDIENTS:

– Wakame Bioferment (Seaweed): Increases skin oxygen consumption to detoxify and boost antioxidant defense.

– Gotu Kola: Lessens the appearance of scars and increases skin firmness.

– Lactic Acid: A natural Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that increases skin cell turnover, for healthier renewed skin.

– Licorice: Lightens unwanted pigmentation and corrects skin discoloration.

– Argan Oil: Naturally rich in Vitamin E, this oil reduced water loss and protects skin’s resiliency and elasticity.

Now, how did I like it?

First off, the scent. So nice! It’s like a soft hug of citrus when you apply this serum – just enough to make you smile, thinking of warm days and sunshine, but definitely not overwhelming. The serum itself is lightweight and so silky going on. It absorbs pretty quickly, though I’d give it five to ten minutes before putting your moisturizer on over it. It’s not sticky or tacky-feeling, either, which is so nice. Plus – and this is one of those things I notice – it comes in a brownish-tinted glass bottle. Glass! I honestly prefer glass to plastic when it comes to good skin care. (Just a preference, just a preference.)

I gave this product a good week’s trial, because I’ve noticed it does take some time to see some of the results. I’m happy to say that I really loved this serum – absolutely no irritation to my skin, and my face and neck are feeling soft and “new”, very hydrated. I’ve even used small amounts of it on the backs of my hands – it works wonderfully!
