I am posting this from my phone. Why? Because dinglebutt here can’t remember her WordPress password to save her life. Figures, right?
I am currently sitting in the Legacy Club lounge for Amtrak in Chicago. Free happy hour. Free sodas, juices, and water. Some free snacks. Out own bathrooms and free WiFi and charging stations. And a place to stow your luggage. But all that isn’t why I paid $20.00 for a day’s pass.
Priority boarding. Totally worth twenty bucks.
I left Cincinnati’s Union Station at about 1:30 this morning. And we rejoiced, believe me. There has been a question as to whether we were taking the train (the Cardinal) or were going to have 90 people mooshed into two buses – with luggage! – from Cincinnati to Chicago.
So what in the world was going on? I learned from a conductor later the whole story, or what he knew. Someone decided it would be a Good Idea to get their car or truck up on the tracks near Middletown (west of Cincy) and drive three miles along the tracks. Three miles. The conductor quipped: “How likely do you think that alcohol was involved?” That stunt broke one of the ties and they had to get it fixed before a train could run.
But I am here in Chicago now, waiting about another hour until we board. My travel-nervous tummy keeps suggesting I need to go to the bathroom, but when I go… I don’t! Hoping that all calms down.
I am going to try to post a photo. I’ve never done that from the app before; let’s see how it does.
And now trying to see how to post this…
