I’ll admit it – I hopped on the Pokemon train about a week after Pokemon GO was launched. I saw snarks and fun comments on Facebook, so I downloaded it out of curiosity. Then I got Hims to download it. And found out my friend Deanna was playing it, too!
Of course, Pokemon is supposed to be for kids, right? The game app might attract some twenty-somethings, but really – you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone older than 25 playing this.
Yeah….. no. In the first week of playing, Hims and I ran across mostly women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, wandering around parking lots and places like the American Legion, looking down at their smartphone screens. Some men and women in their 30s would hang out in their car, air conditioners blowing, while waiting for the closest Pokestop to renew, and trying to capture the monsters showing up because someone (usually a business) dropped a lure. After about a month or so of playing, I’ve seen a total of three, maybe four, kids under the age of 16 playing this – including at parks. (All boys.) I love that it’s a fun, active game that people of all ages have gotten into!
In its way, Pokemon GO is in fashion. Not just a fashion for kids-through-Millenials, but for those of us who remember the 90s clearly. (Okay, at least a lot of the 90s clearly… there was alcohol involved, after all!)
Another week of the Beauties On Fire collab. Twenty or so bloggers will be posting their takes on “Pokemon” this weekend! Some will be doing makeup and others will be doing fashion. All of them promise to be a lot of fun! Head on over to Elizabeth’s blog right here, and you’ll see the rest of the links at the bottom of the page – but you best read hers first!
Haha girl you crack me up! That had to be a sight seeing all those people looking at their phones! I haven’t gotten into Pokemon Go! However, I love your cute picture!!

LOL! Thank you! And you should – it’s fun! Ohohoh…. Since you changed format on your blog (which I love, BTW), I have been trying to leave comments, but they don’t show up. Maybe I’m just not seeing them even after a day or so? Hah – I would have left you a comment about it, but…. yeah. 😛

AWWWW I am so glad you loved it!!! And that is strange!! I will definitely look into the comment thing. It might be spamming them and I have no idea why! I will see if I can change the settings! Thanks love for letting me know about this issue. It seriously means so much that you like the new format. I have been working so hard on it haha.

Love the post! I used to be a huge fan of pokemon when I was younger (the original pokemon) but I just haven’t been able to get into the new series or the game! I did try pokemon GO but it was uninstalled pretty much the same night. I do however love seeing the others my age and older are still holding onto their childhood and having fun with it!

I never played with the cards – I’d gone through Magic and just didn’t “get” Pokemon. Things like World of Warcraft and Second Life were much more entertaining. But this silly Pokemon GO I love. 🙂

I can’t figure out Second Life for the life of me lol I tried it twice and stayed confused. The sims is much better for me lol

If you were using the Linden Labs viewer (the “official” SL viewer), it makes absolutely NO sense. Most of us (to Linden Lab’s chagrin) use the Firestorm viewer… ya know, maybe I should do a blog post about SL! It would be lots easier to understand with pictures and stuff.

I tried so hard to get into Pokemon, Go! but my ‘internet’ connection is so crappy and it destroyed my home data, and I… may have walked into a stationary wall… or four… I’m accident prone and the boyfriend MAY have banned it for my safety too. Really though I just wanted to play with a Pikachu all day.

*laffs!* Hims is always saying he needs to wrap me in bubblewrap! He also insists my hands phase out of this reality and into a different dimension randomly, because I am ALWAYS dropping things… he has watched me have a good hold on something and without my hand even moving, it suddenly falls to the floor. Thank goodness I haven’t walked into walls with Pokemon GO yet!

I love the way you’ve wrote this post, it were really enjoyable reading. It’s amazing how many adults have been enjoying and even obsessing over the game. I tried to stay away from it for a while at first, purely because it seemed to be so over hyped, then I just had to see what all the fuss were about and became hooked. I got a major glitch which stopped it from being able to work on my phone though due to an update a while ago, since then I haven’t tried get it back on. I kinda miss it because it motivated me to get off my rear and walk around more, although the abundance of Pidgey’s were starting to drive me crazy! 🙂

Ugghhhh…. the Pidgeys and the Weedles! *laffs* It does the same for me – motivates me to get up and go walk, especially now that I’ve figured out how to use the incubators for the eggs. 🙂

The eggs take sooooo long! I felt like I had them forever, I were in desperate need of more incubators too! Oh gosh yes! I’m glad it’s not only me that were constantly bombarded with Pidgey and Weedle, I used to get a ridiculous amount of Exeggcute too! Drove me up the wall!

LOL – I didn’t get any Exeggcute until I was sitting in the Amtrak station in Cincinnati at like 3am, and suddenly it appeared. I was WAY too excited about seeing something new. 🙂

Hahaha I totally know what you mean by being excited to see something new, I found Mr. Mime and it sent me utterly loopy with excitement, unfortunately he ran away though.
