Blogging Challenge: Day 1 (A Day Late)

A couple months ago, Lauren Smith Marten of Media and Makeup did a 30 day blogging challenge. I asked her if she’d mind if I stole the idea from her, and she said go for it – so I am!

Day One is about your user name. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be “amjustjuls” or if it’s supposed to be the blog name, so I’ll just do both.

AmJustJuls – No, Juls or Julie isn’t my real name, just like I confess on the About Me page. It’s the name of my avatar in Second Life. When I first began blogging, I wanted to be anonymous, and that seemed the best way to do it. While I still won’t share a whole lot of really identifying stuff, I will say my real name is Sydney. Shhh, don’t let that get around.

Me, Take Three – I began this blog more as a weight loss blog, but it’s obviously turned into a whole lot more than that! It was my second or third attempt at this type of blog, so here comes the name “Me, Take Three”. It also reflects how I keep trying again and again to do this weight loss thing… and now it reflects how I’ve gone from trying to figure out who I am in high school (and letting friends try different makeup and hairstyles on me!), to a long stretch where I didn’t bother dressing outside teeshirts and jeans and no makeup, to now – discovering more and more stuff about makeup and just loving the hell out of it. And now I don’t have to worry about peer pressure, either!

Author:

Syd is a Midwestern girl who doesn’t think the term “girl” is sexist in the least – especially after she left her 20s. She holds a huge love for history (from WWI through the end of WWII, Victorian, Regency, and Elizabethan eras), some science fiction, and likes to pass the time reading, working with photography and needlework, and writing things. Lots of things. Syd likes to dance, too, but she looks like an utter goob doing so!
